STANDARD RANKING OF POKER HANDS

A hand in poker gaming comprises of 5 playing cards. Higher category poker hands can beat the lower category poker hands. In the games, where a player is having more than 5 cards and chooses five for the formation of a poker hand, no role would be played by the remaining cards in the ranking of hands.Only 5 cards of a hand decide the ranking of that particular hand. The hand ranking from higher to lower is as follows:
i. c - This can be called as the best hand, if the wild cards or a joker is used, consisting of 5 aces i.e. 4 natural aces and a joker, the best possible in all poker hands.
ii. Straight Flush - If the game does not have any joker, then the Straight Flush can be regarded as the best possible of all poker hands, including 5 consecutive cards of the similar suit. Royal Flush is the highest among all the straight flush hand in poker gaming consisting of A, K, Q, J, and 10 of the similar suit.
iii. Four of a kind - This includes 4 cards of the similar ranking, i.e. 4 Ks and any 5th card. 4 sixes would be beaten by 4 tens.
iv. Full house – 4 cards of the similar ranking along with any other rank’s pair i.e. KKK33. 222AA would be beaten by 77766; the beating of a full house by another would be determined by the 3 cards of higher ranking.
v. Flush – Includes 5 cards of the similar suit. For instance, the A, Q, 9, 7, and 3 of clubs. In comparison to the flushes, they rank on down from the top cards. If there are exactly the same cards in two flushes, this is called a tie and the pot would split.
vi. Straight – Five cards of different suits in a sequence. When there shown 2 straights, winner would be determined by the highest card. For making a ‘wheel’ straight or a ‘broadway’ straight, an ace can be used. Some straights are not permitted like ‘around the corner’ in some situations.
vii. Three of a kind – Includes 3 cards of the similar rank with 2 unpaired cards. In flop games, both the players are possible to get the similar 3 of a kind of poker hands, where the winner would be determined by the 2 unrelated ‘kicker’ cards. The pot will be split with the 2 identical hands.
viii. Two pair - Includes 2 cards of a single rank, 2 cards of another rank, and a ‘kicker’ of a 3rd rank. Pot can be split with the 2 hands of the similar ranking.
ix. One pair – Includes 2 cards of similar ranking along with 3 unrelated cards of poker hands. The distinct ‘kicker’ cards are valued in rank when the similar pairs are with the players.
x. High pair – Includes poker hands of no pair or any other rank than valued above. In comparison with the hands of no pair, with the use of all cards in sequence, the winner will be determined by the highest card.
